Bayero University’s Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu awarded at BOB-TV for his contribution to Kannywood


 On the Finafinan Hausa listserve, Nasiru Bappah Muhammad reports that Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu of Bayero University (in the Department of Education and the Department of Mass Communications) has won an award at the ongoing “Best of the Best” film and broadcast expo in Abuja, BOB-TV

With great joy, I wish to announce to you that Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu has, yesterday represented by Malam Habibu Sani, received an award at the on-going 7th African Film and Television Programmes Expo (BOBTV) in Abuja, alongside Mr. Steve Ojo (Broadcaster), Chief Zeb Ejiro (Producer), Opa Williams (Producer/A Nite of a Thousand Laughs) Emem Isong (Filmmaker), and Sam Dede (Actor/Lecturer).

 The award (Best of the Best Honours) was given to Prof Abdalla in Special Recognition of his immense contribution to the development of Kannywood-as Scholar and Critic who helped in charting a course for Kannywood, organized/coordinated seminars/trainings/conferences, and created an online forum, Dandalin Finafinan Hausa, for general discussions, reviews and promotions of Hausa Films.

Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu’s award marks the second BOB TV award for faculty in Bayero University’s Department of Mass Communications. Current Head of Department, Dr. Umar Faruk Jibril, recieved an award last year, 2009.
